Executive members
The following executive members were elected to the Board of RCVDA on the 14th December 2007. Reproduced below are the pen portraits which were produced as part of the election process.
Sue Anderson
I have throughout my life developed and enhanced my skills and experience on all levels. I have been a service user, volunteer, paid worker, manager, management committee member, trustee and director within the voluntary & community sector.
I have been involved with RCVDA for 10 years now and have represented the organisation and sector locally, sub-regionally and regionally the only area I need still to experience is the national one, there is time yet.
I want the very best for RCVDA, its staff, its partners, its members and the sector, Why? Because we deserve it.
Julia Bracknell
My current job is as Chief Executive of The Junction, a registered charity based in Redcar, which provides a range of support services for children and young people across the Tees Valley. I have responsibility for the management of 18 staff and up to 15 volunteers.
I have been a Trustee of RCVDA for the past 2 years and have chaired the Financial and General Purposes sub-committee for a year.
Over the past 20 years I have gained an insight in to the diversity of the VCA through working, both paid and unpaid, in various VCS organisations including Barnardos, 3 organisations providing support to women and a young offenders institution.
I have also had 3 years experience of being the Chair of the Board of Trustees of a national charity, Nightstop UK, supporting homeless young people.
I have enjoyed working in the VCS and I have had to communicate the sectors views and needs in some challenging situations, hopefully with some positive outcomes for all concerned.
Jackie Goult
Born Jacqueline Ruth Lee in South Bank the eldest of 3 daughters. Educated at Cromwell Road School, Victoria Street Secondary Modern School, South Bank and Yarm Grammar School, and the mother of 4 sons and a daughter.
I worked at ICI Wilton and BOC Teesport and then in 1972 became the Honorary Secretary of South Bank and District Chamber of Trade and a member of the National Chamber of Trade Executive Committee in 1975.
I became a member of the Langbaurgh VDA, then Executive Member of RCVDA until the present day.
I have served as Honorary PCC Secretary to The Parish Church of St John the Evangelist, South Bank for the past 12 years since my retirement from 21 years in the NHS and set up the daily parish office, with a team of 5 volunteers each weekday morning, as an outreach to the community we are called to serve.
The voluntary sector does excellent work using the skills, experience and ability as an invaluable resource, and we are fortunate indeed to have RCVDA for support. If re-elected I will be honoured to continue to serve as a Trustee Board Member.

Ian Jeffrey
I have been a member of RCVDA executive for some 20 years and have played a constructive and positive role during the course of the development of the organisation. In addition, I have a direct personal involvement in a number of voluntary & community activities which enables me to link up grass roots activities with higher level strategic considerations. I promote the value and benefits of voluntary work in my roles as and elected member of Redcar & Cleveland Council and the local strategic partnership.
Peter Spencer
I have been involved with the voluntary sector since the early 1980’s. The main charity that I service is Tees Valley Rural Community Council of which I have had the honour of being Chairman for the last twelve years. I am a board Trustee of South Bank Millennium Green and a member of the Network.
In the past I was on the original start up committee of the Guisborough Museum and the Market Town Initiative of Guisborough. I am also a Town and Borough Councillor.
I have been happy to serve as a RCVDA Board member for the last four years and would love to continue in this role.
My skills are financial, public speaking and training skills.
Jim Wingham
Until recently I was the chair of the Redcar & Cleveland Community Network and I still intend to play an active role within the network.
Over the years I have been involved in Voluntary & Community work in various ways. At the moment I am a school governor at both schools in Saltburn, Chair of the Saltburn Gill Action Group, attempting to stop pollution in a small trout stream amongst other things.
I wish to help the organisation by sharing my knowledge and experience to help others.
Tess Wombwell
At present I am a member of the executive committee which gives me great pleasure for the reasons below:-
- As a disabled member it gives me a voice for fellow sufferers
- Being a self advocate this would be an asset for all issues
- I will stand and voice my own opinion regarding all issues; ethnic minorities, cash flow spending, staff issues etc
- Supporting and representing the development work done by RCVDA
I have witnessed a small group from South Bank become an excellent and growing organisation as they are now and hope to see more advancement in the coming years.
