What is Healthwatch?

Healthwatch was launched in England on April 1 2013 to give people using health and social care services a powerful voice - both locally and nationally.

Healthwatch Redcar and Cleveland is the new consumer champion for all of us who use health and social care services in the borough. It will ensure that everybody has a voice in the way our health and social care services are planned and delivered.

Healthwatch Redcar and Cleveland is a membership organisation which aims to ensure the widest possible range of communities and interest groups can get involved in their work.

Strengthening the Local Voice

Healthwatch Redcar and Cleveland aims to strengthen the collective voice of local voluntary and community sector organisations through its statutory membership of the Redcar and Cleveland Health & Wellbeing Board, a key strategic decision-making group for health and social care services. Healthwatch will also provide information to individuals to help them make informed choices about their health and social care needs.

Working with the local community

Healthwatch Redcar and Cleveland is keen to work with organisations based in communities across the Borough to help distribute information, share expertise and ensure we make the best use of existing engagement networks across the Borough to give people a powerful voice.

The Healthwatch Network

Healthwatch Redcar and Cleveland will be establishing a Healthwatch Network where they will offer members a genuine opportunity to identify priorities, issues and concerns and the chance to get involved in specific projects undertaken by Network Task and Finish Groups.

Welcome to your Healthwatch!

Healthwatch Redcar and Cleveland will cover all health and social care services across the Borough. This includes services offered by hospitals, GP surgeries, walk-in centres, ambulance services, dental surgeries, mental health care, care homes, respite providers and home helps.

In Redcar and Cleveland, feedback and suggestions from local people, groups and organisations will be used to shape our local health and social care services, so hearing your views really matters to them.

How can I find out more and get involved in Healthwatch Redcar and Cleveland?
