Context of Role

Standing on the site of the first ironstone mine in Cleveland, Land of Iron at Cleveland Ironstone Mining Museum – an independent museum celebrating the heritage of the ironstone mining industry – allows you to get up close and explore a rich and fascinating history.

Role Description

Land of Iron is seeking a creative, inspirational Museum Manager with a heritage background and an entrepreneurial mindset to lead their vision of being an asset to both the nation and the region.

Over the last 12 months, with support of The National Lottery Heritage Fund, thanks to National Lottery players, the Museum has created new jobs, strengthened its community outreach, and expanded lifelong learning initiatives.

As a result of this investment, this is an exciting time to join the charity as Museum Manager.

Purpose of the Role

Lead, mentor and motivate a diverse team of staff and volunteers, harnessing a collective energy to contribute to the Museum’s commercial success.

Work with the Marketing Officer to ensure marketing and publicity materials, including social media, increase public engagement and visitors.

Manage the daily operations of the Museum, ensuring security, building maintenance, and the safety of all staff, volunteers, and visitors, complying with the trust’s Health and Safety policies.

Work with the Treasurer to monitor and manage the annual operating budget, preparing regular reports to the Board of Trustees.
