Nomination forms are available here – please complete then simply click the submit button. You will then receive an automatic acknowledgement that we have received your submission.
Closing date for submission of your nomination will be midnight on Sunday 23rd June 2019.

There are 8 categories which you can nominate your group or individual volunteer to and they will be judged from 1 – 5 using the following criteria:

The task of choosing a winner from the many amazing nominations we receive every year is difficult and the decision of the judges can only be guided by the bio you write – so please keep this criteria in mind when writing about your group or individual.

Please note: the person you nominate does not necessarily have to belong to a formal voluntary/community group – they could be that un-sung hero who quietly makes a substantial contribution to a community/environment, and has, as yet, gone unrecognized! We want to hear about these people and, even if they don’t win their particular category, thank them with an invitation to afternoon tea and a certificate of recognition.

Community Organiser

Every locality has a Community Champion. That person who is the co-ordinator, the “glue that brings your community together”, whether it be for a social occasion or to tackle a social or environmental issue.

Health & Wellbeing

A group or individual who has had a direct effect on the physical/mental health or lifestyle of residents in the community. This could include befriending, sports, health support groups etc.

Innovation/Enterprise

An individual or group who have demonstrated innovative approaches or enterprise in tackling an issue within their community. Innovation can be defined simply as a “new idea, device or method” the application of better solutions that meet new requirements, unarticulated or existing needs. This award could apply to a charity shop team who have used innovative ways of producing displays perhaps.

Outstanding Community Group

A group or team who have dedicated years of effective service to the sustainability of the community or project they are passionate about. This award could also apply to a Charity shop team.

Outstanding Trustee

Trustees are the unseen volunteers without which no charity could exist. The role of a trustee is to set the direction of the charity and to ensure that the charity doesn’t drift away from the reason it was set up. They provide critical friend advice to staff and volunteers whilst also keeping organisations grounded. An outstanding trustee is dedicated to their charity and champions the cause at every opportunity.

RCVDA Lifetime Achievement

A person who has dedicated years of effective service to the community or project they are passionate about. This person will have made a significant impact over their lifetime or over a number of years.

Volunteer of the Year 2019

A person who has gone “above and beyond” over the last year. This could be the amount of time they have dedicated to their particular project and/or they have made a significant difference to another person’s life or to their community as a whole.

Young Volunteer (under 21)

Do you know of a young person or team of young people who exemplify all that is good in our youth for example inter-generational initiatives, representation of young people, involvement in their community etc.?

So if you know someone who makes a difference in our community – nominate them today!
