Redcar and Cleveland Council are seeking to attract a range of high quality architects and designers through this competition to produce inspiring, deliverable design proposals for the academy and the walled garden. Initial investigations have highlighted a range of potential activities, constraints and a site layout option, which help to illustrate our vision; however it is through this competition that we are seeking to reach a definitive scope and outline design for the facility.

Ageing Better Middlesbrough – Peer Friendship Job Vacancies

This is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of a large programme aimed at achieving long-lasting, significant change for older people in Middlesbrough. The Peer Friendship project is a new, innovative project aimed at building connections and relationships within the community by matching volunteers to older people, based on their strengths, experience and interests.

They are now recruiting for three Peer Friendship positions!

The responsibilities of these roles will include; recruiting and supporting Peer Friendship Volunteers; supporting people to feel less lonely and isolated; and helping people to reconnect with other people and/or activities in their local community.

The project will operate as part of the Ageing Better Middlesbrough programme – a £6 million Big Lottery funded programme aimed at reducing loneliness and isolation in Middlesbrough for people aged fifty and over. Middlesbrough and Stockton Mind is the programme’s lead partner but is delivering ABM in partnership with other organisations. The Peer Friendship Project will be delivered by Actes and Volunteering Matters and these positions will be employed through them.

£10,000 Goalden Giveaway!!!

Mandy Shields, Events Manager with Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation writes:

“On behalf of Teesside Philanthropic Foundation, I am writing to tell you about a great opportunity for your Teesside community group.

Teesside businesses have joined forces to give 10 local charities, community groups and schools a chance to share a cash jackpot in the fifth £10,000 Goalden Giveaway.

The £10,000 fund is being made available by charitable movement Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation.

The Foundation is funded by Teesside businesses and individual patrons including Middlesbrough FC who are backing the Goalden Giveaway.

The money will be split between 10 charities, community groups and schools – with local good causes encouraged to apply to make the shortlist.

Foundation chairman Andy Preston will lead a selection panel that faces the tough task of choosing the 10-strong shortlist.

Supporters of the good causes will then have an opportunity to vote via the Foundation’s official website at www.teessidecharity.org.uk for the good cause they believe most deserves the money.

The charity receiving most votes will receive £2,500 together with a visit from two Boro first team stars.

The second-placed charity will receive £1,500 and those placed third to fifth £1,000. There’ll be £750 for the charities getting the sixth and seventh most votes and £500 for the remaining good causes.
