Funding & Training Opportunities

Community Grants Programme 2014-15

County Durham Community Foundation was recently awarded the contract to deliver the European Social Fund (ESF) Community Grants Programme 2014-15 across the North East of England.

This fund will provide awards of up to £15,000 to groups undertaking activities including help with basic skills, work experience, training advice and guidance, job search assistance, confidence building, personal development and support to overcome barriers to training and employment. Within this £15,000 limit, groups may also apply for support costs to help with Capacity Building their organisation.

Capacity Building Grants are not expected to exceed £1,500 except in exceptional cases.
This fund is now open for applications.
Funding is available in the following Local Authority Areas:

  • County Durham
  • Darlington
  • Gateshead
  • Hartlepool
  • Middlesbrough
  • Newcastle upon Tyne
  • North Tyneside
  • Northumberland
  • Redcar & Cleveland
  • South Tyneside
  • Stockton-on-Tees
  • Sunderland

Sport Works Funding

Sport Works have asked us to let you know about their opportunties to provide fully funded qualifications for young people aged between 16 – 25.

  • The project is funded by the Big Lottery and runs for 3 years.
  • The eligible areas are Redcar & Cleveland, Stockton and Middlesbrough.
  • Funding support for NEET or pre-NEET group aged between 16 and 25 years old.
  • The project will fund two qualifications – the first is Sports Leader Award L1 and the second TBC.
  • There is no cost to the learner.
  • The fund will support the cost of delivery, registration and certification and venue hire where necessary.
  • We can deliver it over an 8 week period for 1 day per week, or alternatively an intense 2 week programme.

This programme aims to engage disaffected learners into education using sport as a ‘hook’.
