Tees Valley Strategic Economic Plan

We are circulating this information on behalf of Tees Valley Unlimited. If you have any queries or would like further information, please contact Laura.Nann@TeesValleyUnlimited.gov.uk.

Dear Colleague

The Tees Valley Strategic Economic Plan (SEP) was submitted to Government in March 2014 and led to TVU securing a Growth Deal worth around £104m. The Tees Valley Combined Authority will be formed in April 2016 and is working in shadow form and a Devolution Deal was agreed with Government in October 2015. In light of these changes and changing economic circumstances including significant job losses in the steel industry we are now reviewing the SEP to ensure it is fit for purpose and accurately reflects our vision and priorities for the area.

The SEP Review will result in a clear mandate for businesses, partners and stakeholders; which can be used to encourage partners to deliver shared priorities and be used to attract investment. It will also set out the Combined Authority and the LEP’s approach and priorities for investment for both public and private sector.

We are now keen to engage with a wide range of partners and stakeholders in the early stages of the review process. To this end, I would like to invite you to participate in a Voluntary and Community sector session to be held at Cavendish House on Wednesday 24th February, 2016 at 8am.

The main topics of discussion at the workshop will be:

  • Where we are now?
  • Where we want to get to?
  • What might it look like?
  • A review of the 25,000 jobs target and replacement jobs demand
  • What are the priorities for the Voluntary and Community sector in relation to the following themes:
    • Transport & Infrastructure
    • Innovation
    • Education, Employment & Skills
    • Business Growth
    • Place

The outcomes from the session will be considered and developed in more detail at thematic based sessions, taking place in March. The outcomes of these sessions will lead to the development of a new draft SEP for Tees Valley which will be considered at sessions to be organised in spring. The aim is to publish the new SEP in July 2016.

Your participation and input in the session would be greatly valued and will help us to complete the review of the SEP for Tees Valley.

We hope that you will be able to join us and I would be grateful if you would confirm your attendance by clicking on this link to register for the session.

Thank you.
