MVDA and RCVDA to run newly merged Healthwatch South Tees

MVDA and RCVDA are delighted to announce they will be leading the work to merge two local Healthwatch bodies and run the newly formed Healthwatch South Tees.

Healthwatch Middlesbrough and Healthwatch Redcar & Cleveland will be superseded by Healthwatch South Tees to become a new independent body from 1st April 2017, led by MVDA in a partnership with RCVDA.

Healthwatch bodies plays an important part in improving local health and social care services by independently representing public views. The aim of Healthwatch South Tees will be to give citizens and communities a stronger voice to influence and challenge how health and social care services are provided in their locality.

Mark Davis, Chief Executive of MVDA said:

“We want local people to be able to have their say about health and social care services in South Tees and ultimately see these services then improve. Many of our member organisations already work in health and social care with great access to those who use these services, so we’re in a strong position to get all communities engaged in Healthwatch activities. I’m excited to join forces with RCVDA and create this new delivery partnership for Healthwatch South Tees. We’re already developing plans to establish a Board and can’t wait to get started.”

Mike Milen, Chief Executive of RCVDA said:

“We’re looking forward to working with MVDA to help improve health and social care in South Tees. It is important local people have good access to information about health and social care services available, including choices about these services, and how they can access them.”
