“Bags of Help” for Local Projects
This is funding available for groups from the Tesco 5p carrier bag charge.
Bags of Help is Tesco’s exciting local community grant scheme where the money raised from the 5p bag charge is being used to fund thousands of local projects in communities right across the UK.
Projects that bring benefit to their community will get the green light – these range from improving community buildings and outdoor spaces to buying new equipment, training coaches or volunteers and hosting community events.
Administration of the local funding is being managed by the community charity with a green heart, Groundwork, which specialises in transforming communities and the local environment for the better.
Child and Young Person Tier Two Weight Management Consultation
Scott Lloyd, Health Improvement Commissioning Lead with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council writes:
‘Over the past five years, we have commissioned MoreLife UK to provide our tier two child and young person weight management service (5 to 17 year olds) – this contract ended on the 30th November 2016 in Redcar and Cleveland and expires on the 31st March 2017 in Middlesbrough.
Taking all of the learning from the local MoreLife service into account along with developments in the weight management field over the past six years, we have come up with a new model that we would like share with local professionals to get their opinions.
This session will be held on Thursday 23rd March 2017, 10:00 to 12:00 (venue tbc).’

Sage Foundation Launches $1million Enterprise Fund to back the Brightest Ideas From Charities
Sage, a market leader in cloud accounting software, has recently launched Sage Foundation’s Enterprise Fund. The new $1 million fund is open to charities with enterprising ideas to help improve the lives of military veterans, young people or women and girls in their local communities.
Every day, across the UK, inspiring charity leaders, volunteers and their supporters are working tirelessly to make their communities better places to live. Sage Foundation’s Enterprise Fund has been designed to support those organisations generate further income, create new initiatives or enhance existing and proven activity.
The $1 million will be split between two rounds of $500,000; with the second round ready for release in July 2017.
Applications for the first round are open until 5 April when grants between $5,000 and $35,000 (£4,000-£28,000) will then be awarded to successful applicants.

Creating new initiatives that build on your existing success and support your overall mission.
Strengthen your organisation
Finding ways to generate further income to make your organisation stronger and able to develop new work.
Support growth
Growing proven and existing activity so that the work you do will have an impact on more people’s lives.
Who can benefit?
The fund is open to applications that will deliver real change to young people, women, and military veterans lives around the world, whilst also supporting your organisation to thrive. They are particularly interested in applications that demonstrate an enterprising approach and innovative solutions to issues in your community, which in turn supports and inspires others.
All applications that fulfil the eligibility criteria will be considered. However, they are especially keen to support organisations that are currently small but have ambitions to expand, grow and deliver sustainable change.
In order qualify for the funding, your organisation must work with one of the following groups:
- Young People (under 25)
- Women and Girls
- Military Veterans

Sage Foundation’s Enterprise Fund is designed to support organisations who focus on a diverse and varied range of interest areas which benefit their three communities. In order qualify for the funding, your organisation must work to address one of following areas of interest:
- Health and Wellbeing
- Education
- Diversity and Inclusion
- Entrepreneurship

Heart Start for Individuals
Due to an increased demand the Fire Support Network are now taking bookings from individuals to attend their Heart Start Course.
The course is run in conjunction with the British Heart Foundation and lasts for 2 hours, it includes:
- CPR
- The Recovery Position
- Bleeding
- Choking
The training includes both theory and practical elements; all elements must be completed.
The training costs £5 per person and includes a certificate of attendance.
The course will be running Tuesday 21st March 2017 from 10am – 12noon.

Volunteer Drivers Wanted!
West Lane Hospital, Middlesbrough- Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services
The CAMHS team are looking for enthusiastic, empathic volunteers (unpaid) aged 18 and over to help our staff to support children and adolescents, parents and carers to attend appointments, visits and school.
Volunteer drivers can make a great difference by providing our patients and families with safe and friendly transport. It would be an excellent opportunity for someone who would like to gain experience in a CAMH’s environment or for someone who would like to do something worthwhile and meaningful.
Volunteer drivers will use their own cars or a Trust vehicle and hold a clean driving licence.
Mileage will be reimbursed.
If successful, volunteers will be subject to a DBS check being completed.
