DoorWays Youth Project – Job Opportunity

Youth Support Worker – in charge
Salary: £23,580 per annum
37 hours per week
Initially on a 12-month contract

Saltburn Christian Projects is looking for a Youth Support worker – in charge, to continue the work of the Doorways Project when the existing staff member retires later in the year.
There is a growing need for Doorways to support young people (13 to 25) in their emotional health and well-being and helping to build practical life skills.

Based in Saltburn and operating across the East Cleveland area this is a great opportunity to further develop a successful service to meet the needs of those who need it. The role involves much face-to-face work with young people (zoom to zoom at present). Building and encouraging volunteers and continuing to develop good relationships with schools and relevant agencies. We are looking for an experienced and qualified Youth Worker who shares the values of Doorways and can ensure continuity and development.

Saltburn Christian Projects is a Christian organisation. Our attitudes and conduct are motivated by our Christian faith, so it is a requirement for this role that we recruit someone whose personal beliefs fit in with our distinctly Christian motivation. We expect the successful applicant to have at least a basic understanding of the Christian faith as found in the Bible, and to be in sympathy with it. Ideally, they’ll be active in their faith and involved with a local Christian church.

Please forward a CV to john@door-ways.co.uk and let us know why you feel this could be the role for you. Interviews-probably on Zoom will be held in early March.

There is an opportunity to contact Doorways (initially by email) if you would welcome an informal conversation.

Call for Key-stakeholders involvement in Capita’s DWP Restart Network

Capita are currently seeking to establish a network of service stakeholders to build the local area capacity within our CAEHRS framework to help co design and deliver innovative approaches that support local people to secure employment.

You have been identified through partner agencies networks or have expressed an interest in working with Capita in the development of proposals for the DWPs CAEHRS Restart provision. It is anticipated that the Restart programme will become fully operational in summer 2021.

Case-UK staff are supporting Capita to determine the best approach for local integration, and we are holding a number of key stakeholder discussion sessions and wanted to invite you to participate in the session scheduled for Wednesday 24th February at 13.00. The aim of the session is to introduce Capita to the North East networks, provide an overview of Capita CAEHRS developments, discuss innovative approaches to support people to secure employment, discuss Social Investment models and explore ways of how local providers can become involved in service delivery as a specialist supply chain provider.

If you can confirm if you or a colleague could participate in the session by providing the Name, telephone number and email address to Karen Powell (Karen.Powell@caseuk.onmicrosoft.com) she will arrange for a link to be sent out in preparation for 13.00 on Wednesday 24th February.

Please contact karen.powell@caseuk.onmicrosoft.com if you have any queries.

Tees Valley Community Foundation – Better Together Fund

We have been discussing the many emotions and issues we’re all facing and even though most of us are fortunate enough not to live alone, we still feel isolated from the rest of the world and from the things and people we love. Never has there been a time when we’ve been so aware of the need for human contact and naturally our thoughts turned to those who live alone or who are isolated because they are shielding for health reasons.

So, with this in mind, we are very pleased to announce the launch of our new fund – Better Together Fund. Because we now appreciate exactly how much better life is when we come together, but until we are able to do so we want to support those who are tackling loneliness and isolation in Teesside.

If your organisation is delivering any form of activity to relieve the difficulties brought about by social isolation; it could be regular zoom or telephone calls, it could be doorstep deliveries of activity packs, whatever you are doing, we want to help.

To apply you need to complete an application form via our website www.teesvalleyfoundation.org

For any enquiries regarding the fund please email info@teesvalleyfoundation.org

NHS clinical research project – Local Healthwatch engagement

We are working with NHS England to find out what people think about getting involved with clinical research. This includes those with long-term conditions, with specific health issues including cancer, diabetes, heart disease, mental health and genetic factors.

This research will help the NHS develop new medicines and learn more about better health and care for the future.

We want to know how patients and the public feel about clinical research, how they can get involved if they want to, what digital access they might need and if there are any barriers in place for involvement.

As always, we have been given a very short timescale to carry out this consultation as the deadline is Monday 15 February so we would appreciate you sharing this opportunity as quickly as possible.
