Small Grants Round 1, 2021
Supporting and enabling Covid-19 Recovery

Sirius Minerals Foundation is launching a new grants round on 20th April with a closing date of 16th June. The aim of this grant round is to fund projects and activities that are focussed on helping people in our communities to regain their confidence and restart their lives, as the country begins to come out of lockdown. Groups can apply for funding to continue to deliver their existing activities, or to change and adapt to respond to new and future challenges; the Foundation knows that some groups are having to work differently because of the impact of the pandemic.

It is aimed at small, local organisations who have not previously been supported by the Foundation. The Foundation is particularly keen to reach groups who may not have experience in applying for grants and may need help to do so.

This grant round will see the Foundation spend up to £400,000 across Scarborough Borough, the North York Moors National Park and Redcar and Cleveland.

Grants of between £500 and £5000 are available.

Examples of activity that could be funded;

  • Supporting people who have been shielding and/or have lost confidence to go shopping or visit friends.
  • Supporting people affected by the pandemic to improve their physical or mental health, such as enabling them to take part in a sports or physical activity class or a social group that reduces their isolation.
  • Helping people who are out of work as a result of the pandemic to gain new skills, through volunteering or helping them with their CV.

Full details on how to make an application can be found here.

Groups are encouraged to contact the Foundation to have an informal chat to discuss their application if they are not sure it fits the criteria for this funding round.
