Middlesbrough Environment City – Community Growing Officer Needed

Middlesbrough Environment City (MEC) is an independent charity that promotes healthy and sustainable lifestyles using the ten principles of One Planet Living. We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic officer to deliver a unique project.

The Community Growing Officer will work on the Growing Active project, a project working with community organisations and residents to share skills around horticulture and growing to support existing community greening and growing programmes.

Benefits

  • Hours: 22.2 hours / 3 days per week.
  • Pay: £23,782 to £25,475 (Pro Rata).
  • Duration: Fixed Term Contract until 31st August 2025.

Purpose of the Post

This role will be responsible for the day-to-day delivery of the project including project planning and delivery, partnership development, monitoring of outcomes, coordination with the project partner organisations and evaluation.

With a sound understanding of horticulture and a passion to tackle the climate crisis, you will have previous experience of running community-based projects and have the ability to motivate, providing inspiration and leadership to others. You will require excellent communication and organisational skills and a have commitment to a community-led approach to building community resilience and addressing physical inactivity and climate change locally.
