Talk Money Week 6th-11th November - RCVDA

Talk Money Week 6th-11th November

Richard Gerrard, Community Health Development Co-ordinator of the RCBC Health Improvement Team at Redcar and Cleveland Council, has requested our support in promoting this campaign, along with its aspirations of asking organisations to ask the people we support or employ to ‘do one thing’ to boost their financial wellbeing – and even better, to share what they’re doing with others, whether that’s via social media, conversations with friends and family, or in any other way.

It doesn’t have to be big. It could be as simple as checking their address is up to date on their pensions, talking to a child about pocket money or using the MoneyHelper benefits calculator to check they’re not missing out on any income they could be claiming.

A TEAMS sessions, organised by the Health Improvement team, delivered by the Money and Pensions Service will be available for professionals to attend during the week of action, please see details below:

The session outline.

TEAMS 7TH November, 2pm – 3pm.

Supporting Financial Wellbeing

The number of people classed as ‘financially vulnerable’ has risen from 2.7% to 4.4% of the population since 2021 and continues to rise as the cost-of-living intensifies. In this session Karleen Dowden from the Money and Pensions Service will provide an overview of;

  • How the cost of living is impacting on financial wellbeing
  • Money Helper – a free and independent service to help people with money worries
  • The Money Advice Network – a referral system to help residents access free debt advice
  • Money Guiders training – a free learning and development opportunity for practitioners to help them better support residents
