Community Micro Grant - Ballinger Charitable Trust - RCVDA

Community Micro Grant – Ballinger Charitable Trust

Ballinger Charitable Trust – Community Micro Grant funding application process NOW OPEN – Closing date Friday 23rd February (12 noon) 2024

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council (R&CBC) are working in partnership with the Ballinger Charitable Trust (BCT), offering the opportunity for Voluntary and Community Sector groups from across Redcar and Cleveland to apply for a one-off Community Micro Grant ranging from £250 – £1000.

If successful the grant monies must be spent on an activity, event or project that supports older residents (55 and over) in Redcar and Cleveland, with a general focus on communities experiencing deprivation and/or rural / coastal isolation.

Examples of successful bids in other areas include:

  • Day trips (Funding used to pay for transport, admission and food)
  • Workshops (Funding used to pay of venue/room hire and facilitator/tutor costs)
  • Equipment to support existing groups and activities that support older residents
  • Running costs for existing groups that support older residents
  • Activities that tackle social isolation and vulnerability
  • Informative/educational activities and sessions
  • Social events
  • Physical activities and projects

If you are interested, we simply ask that you submit a short summary of your proposal to richard.gerrard@redcar-cleveland.gov.uk, no more than 500 words, answering the following questions:

  • Name of group/organisation
  • Status i.e. are you a registered charity, voluntary and Community Sector group, Volunteer led etc.
  • What will you use this grant for?
  • Where in borough of Redcar and Cleveland will your activity, project and or event take place?
  • How many people do you anticipate will benefit if your application is successful?
  • Total amount requested?

Applications will be accepted up until Friday 23rd February at 12 noon,

Submitted applications will be shortlisted and presented to the Ballinger Charitable Trust, with all shortlisted groups invited to chat with the Ballinger Trust on the 5th March. Each group attending will pitch one idea, that can be funded by BCT. It can be in support of existing delivery, or piloting a new idea.

The ‘pitch’ is just a short informal chat with Andrew and John, Trustees of BCT, with no formality to be concerned about. Nothing for you to be anxious about. This is NOT Dragons Den!

Micro-grant Criteria
