Context of Role

The Friends of Silver Mews support the work of the Silver Mews Care Home. Situated in the heart of a residential community in the seaside town of Redcar. Silver Mews is a 41 bedded care home offering a range of care including Residential, Respite and Dementia care.

The Friends aim to improve the quality of life of the residents of the care home by working with staff, residents and relatives.

Role Description

Silver Mews Care Home are always looking for befrienders to enhance their residents quality of life through greater choices of activities. They are looking for someone who can visit and interact with residents on a face to face basis with all residents in a group and an individual basis.

Purpose of the Role

Responsibilities:

• To provide regular and reliable visits and befriending.
• To carry out a selection of activities for example reading, writing letters, chatting, music, baking, cooking, gardening, playing games accompanying resident on trips out.
• To meet any reasonable needs of the resident.

Skills and/or qualities:

• A friendly approachable manner.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Helpful disposition with an interest in local community.
