Free DBS Workshop – Disclosure and Barring Service

DBS is running two free online workshops for VCSE organisations in the North East, and there are still plenty of places available.

The Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) is running two free online workshops for voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations in the North East, and there are still plenty of places available.

Whether you’re new to DBS checks or want to refresh your knowledge, the sessions are a chance to hear directly from DBS and put your questions to them.

Appropriate for those in North East VCSE Organisations who need to give advice and make decisions about what levels of DBS checks should be applied for; and those who work to support people into volunteering and employment opportunities – in particular those where typical DBS ID routes cannot be followed.

Who Should Attend

The workshop is aimed at people in North East VCSE organisations who:

  • Give advice or make decisions about which level of DBS check to apply for.
  • Support people into volunteering or employment, particularly where the usual DBS ID routes can’t be followed.

What The Workshop Covers

The session will help you understand:

  • The benefits of your organisation and DBS working together.
  • The different levels of DBS check, and when someone is eligible for one.
  • What counts as ‘regulated activity’.
  • The fingerprint route, and when to use it.
  • Safe recruitment practices, with DBS checks as one part of them.

Each session ends with a Q&A, so bring any questions you have about DBS.

Dates and Booking

Both sessions cover the same content and run online via Microsoft Teams, so you only need to book onto one.
