Tees Valley Volunteering Consortium - RCVDA

Tees Valley Volunteering Consortium

The Tees Valley Volunteering Consortium (led by Redcar and Cleveland Voluntary Development Agency (RCVDA) and supported by Edge Innovation Limited on behalf of all Members) has developed following an intensive programme to understand the needs of the VCSE sector and maximise opportunities to develop volunteering opportunities across the VCSE sector and the private sector.

Specifically the Consortium has been formed to create a locally owned infrastructure to develop strategic collaboration by creating online and physical spaces where VCSEs, local authorities, funders and the private sector can access and share funding, skills, knowledge and impact measurement needs. The Consortium is aimed at developing an inclusive, reputable and unified knowledge base around volunteering across Teesside.

The Consortium is for the benefit of all sectors but with a particular focus on the development of the VCSE sector in Tees Valley. Commercial revenues and long term profits created through the process will be reinvested into the development of the VCSE sector within the Tees Valley.

Tees Valley Volunteering Platform Tender Brief

In today’s interconnected world, bridging the gap between sectors is crucial for fostering collaboration and innovation. Recognising this need, the Tees Valley Volunteering Consortium, spearheaded by the Redcar and Cleveland Voluntary Development Agency (RCVDA) and supported by Edge Innovation Limited, is embarking on an ambitious journey to create a platform that will revolutionise how private and voluntary sector organisations collaborate in the UK.

Purpose and Vision

The driving force behind this endeavour is to create a robust technical framework that will facilitate seamless connections between private sector businesses and voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) sector organisations in the Tees Valley and beyond. Our vision is to establish an inclusive, reputable, and unified knowledge base around volunteering, fostering strategic collaboration and maximising opportunities for mutual benefit.

Organisational Insight

The Consortium has emerged from a comprehensive exploration of the needs of the VCSE sector, seeking to leverage the strengths of both private and voluntary sectors to drive positive change. It aims to create a locally owned infrastructure that provides online and physical spaces for stakeholders to access and share resources, skills, and knowledge, with all commercial revenues reinvested into the development of the VCSE sector in the Tees Valley.

The Volunteering Challenge

The Tees Valley Business Volunteering Challenge, supported by the Tees Valley Combined Authority and funded by the Government Community Renewal Fund, laid the foundation for this initiative. It brought together diverse VCSE organisations and private corporations, harnessing the expertise of large businesses to advance the VCSE sector in the region. Through a series of workshops, stakeholders identified key challenges and potential solutions, including the development of an online platform, strategic collaborations, and improved networking opportunities.

Roadmap to Innovation

A roadmap was devised to translate these ideas into tangible outcomes. The challenge facilitated networking and stronger connections between sectors, empowering VCSEs to identify their needs and establish frameworks for collaboration with the private sector. The result is a comprehensive plan of action, guiding us towards the implementation of innovative solutions that will drive positive social impact.
