NSPCC – Volunteers Needed

What we’re looking for:

NSPCC Schools Service Volunteer

Locations: Darlington; Hartlepool; Middlesbrough; Redcar & Cleveland; Stockton on Tees

In 2022 the NSPCC’s Speak out. Stay safe volunteers will be returning to primary schools. We are looking for new volunteers to help us protect a generation of children from abuse and neglect. As a Speak out. Stay safe. volunteer, you will visit primary schools to deliver Speak out. Stay safe. workshops that teach children about the different types of abuse and how they can speak out and stay safe.

Our Speak out. Stay safe. workshops are age-appropriate and memorable and need an energetic and enthusiastic person to deliver them. You’ll work alongside other Speak out. Stay safe. volunteers to make sure at the end of each session the children feel empowered and know who they can speak out to if they are worried.

If you are interested in volunteering as a Speak out. Stay safe. volunteer and want to find out more about the role, the next step is to attend a Volunteer Information Meeting, which is a fantastic opportunity to:

  • Meet with staff as well as volunteers to ask any questions you may have
  • Learn more about the application process and your volunteer journey

Our meetings are designed to help you decide whether you want to apply – there’s no obligation or expectation that you’ll apply if you attend one. At the meeting, you’ll also receive information on other ways you can become a supporter of the NSPCC.

If you have any questions or experience any issues, please contact the Volunteer Recruitment Team at VolunteerRecruitment@NSPCC.org.uk

For this role, we can only accept people over the age of 16.

Interested in getting involved? Volunteer today and join our fight for every childhood.
As an organisation, we are committed to creating and fostering a culture that promotes safeguarding and the welfare of all children and adults at risk. Our safer recruitment practices support this by ensuring that there is a consistent and thorough process of obtaining, collating, analysing and evaluating information from and about candidates to ensure that all persons appointed are suitable to work with our children and adults.

Virgin Money Foundation & Power to Change – Leading the Way Programme

Last month Virgin Money Foundation and Power to Change re-opened applications for Leading The Way: a leadership programme for community businesses, organisations and trading charities in the North East of England, Yorkshire and the Humber.

We are hoping to welcome a cohort of 20 new Community Leaders onto the programme by early 2023 and need your help.

Please can we ask you to share the opportunity within any of your newsletters, social media posts, organisations you have a connection with and anywhere else you feel would be helpful. Even better if you think you know someone who would benefit from the programme could you suggest they look at the Foundation’s website?

About Leading the Way

The programme has been designed for leaders who have not benefitted from significant investment in their personal or organisational development. We are keen to work with people who are ‘getting on and doing it’, and who might feel that other leadership programmes aren’t for them. Applications are particularly encouraged from groups under-represented in leadership positions, including people from minoritized ethnicity communities, and people who are disabled.

The programme includes one-to-one work with a mentor, cohort-based learning days, one-to-one coaching, one-to-one specialist support and a grant to help you to participation in the programme.

Overall, the programme offers support of approximately £25,000 in value.

Application process

Applications for the programme close midday on Friday 16 December 2022 but it would be good for people to apply before then. The first step for anyone who may be interested is to check their eligibility by clicking here

Please contact Richard Walton, the Programme Manager, at
Richard.Walton@virginmoney.com if anything further would be helpful.
